Montblanc Catherine II The Great 4810 Limited Edition Fountain Pen 28631, 1997

Launched in 1997, the Montblanc Patron of Art 4810 Catherine II The Great Fountain Pen is a rare gem, with only 4810 pieces available worldwide. This exclusive collection pays homage to the Russian patron of the arts, Catherine the Great, making each pen a unique and privileged possession.

Tsarina Catherine's ambition was to continue the work of Peter the Great. Indeed, her commitment to art was impressive: she corresponded with Voltaire, Diderot, and D'Alembert, among others. She was responsible for building the Hermitage, the famous winter palace in St.Petersburg, and thanks to her love of painting, the royal art collection increased from a few dozen paintings to 4,000 paintings.

A few words about Catherine II Ekaterina II (born May 2, 1729 – died November 6 or 17, 1796), also known as Yekaterina Alexeyevna or also known as Catherine the Great (Yekaterina II Velikaya), was an empress of the Russian Empire. The longest reign in the Tsar's absolute monarchy (34 years, from June 28, 1762, until his death). Although she was of German origin (born in Stettin in the Kingdom of Prussia - with the birth name Sophie Friederike Auguste von Anhalt-Zerbst-Dornburg), she made a significant contribution to helping the Russian Empire grow into a power in Europe in the 18th century.

The splendidly ornamented Patron of Art Edition Catherine II the Great is not just a pen, but a piece of history. It commemorates the great era of the Russian Empire, with rose gold-plated ornamentation featuring blossom wreath motifs adorning the aubergine-coloured barrel of Edition 4810.
